Confinement of Light Quarks in Qcd at Finite Density

چکیده

The 4q effective Lagrangian and the gap equation are derived for light quarks in the confinement phase of QCD. The modification of the confining string due to finite quark density (chemical quark potential µ) is observed. As a surprising result in a multiquark system with a common string junction an attractive well appears of radius µ/σ and of an average depth equal to µ. Possible implications for the density phase transition are discussed.

PT Symmetry and QCD: Finite Temperature and Density

The relevance of PT symmetry to quantum chromodynamics (QCD), the gauge theory of the strong interactions, is explored in the context of finite temperature and density. Two significant problems in QCD are studied: the sign problem of finite-density QCD, and the problem of confinement. It is proven that the effective action for heavy quarks at finite density is PT -symmetric. For the case of 1+1...

Chiral Symmetry and Quark Confinement

In the physical vacuum of QCD, the energy density of lightquark fields strongly coupled to slowly varying gluon fields can be negative, and so a condensate of pairs of quarks and antiquarks of nearly opposite momenta forms which breaks chiral symmetry, confines quarks, and makes gluons massive. Condensates Break Chiral Symmetry

In the physical vacuum of QCD, the energy density of lightquark fields strongly coupled to slowly varying gluon fields can be negative. The states that drive this energy density lowest are condensates of pairs of quarks and antiquarks of nearly opposite momenta. These quark-antiquark condensates break chiral symmetry. They may also affect other features of hadronic physics, such as the range of...

QCD at a Finite Density of Static Quarks

Recently, cluster methods have been used to solve a variety of sign problems including those that arise in the presence of fermions. In all cases an analytic partial re-summation over a class of configurations in the path integral was necessary. Here the new ideas are illustrated using the example of QCD at a finite density of static quarks. In this limit the sign problem simplifies since the f...

On the Quasiparticle Description of Lattice QCD Thermodynamics

We propose a novel quasiparticle interpretation of the equation of state of deconfined QCD at finite temperature. Using appropriate thermal masses, we introduce a phenomeno-logical parametrization of the onset of confinement in the vicinity of the predicted phase transition. Lattice results of the energy density, the pressure and the interaction measure of pure SU (3) gauge theory are excellent...
